Sanctions Notice - Russian Federation

1st October 2015

Please be advised that the guidance previously issued by the European Commission on prohibitions and authorisations in respect of exports and related financial assistance under the EU’s sanctions against the Russian Federation has been updated.

The EU sanctions against the Russian Federation have been implemented in the Bailiwick by the Russian Federation (Restrictive Measures) (Guernsey) Ordinance 2014, the Russian Federation (Restrictive Measures) (Alderney) Ordinance 2014 and the Russian Federation (Restrictive Measures) (Sark) Ordinance 2014. Like guidance previously issued in this area by the UK’s Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and the Export Control Organisation, the EU guidance is neither applicable in the Bailiwick nor binding on its authorities. However, it is drawn to your attention on the basis that the authorities are likely to take a similar approach to that in the guidance when considering the implementation of the relevant sanctions in the Bailiwick.
