Sanctions Notice - Russian Federation

23rd December 2014

Please be advised that guidance on prohibitions and authorisations in respect of exports and related financial assistance under the EU’s sanctions against the Russian Federation has been issued by the European Commission.

The EU sanctions in relation to the Russian Federation have been implemented in the Bailiwick by the Russian Federation (Restrictive Measures) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2014, the Russian Federation (Restrictive Measures) (Alderney) Ordinance, 2014 and the Russian Federation (Restrictive Measures) (Sark) Ordinance, 2014. Like guidance previously issued in this area by the UK’s Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and the Export Control Organisation, the EU guidance is neither applicable in the Bailiwick nor binding on its authorities. However, it is drawn to your attention on the basis that the authorities are likely to take a similar approach to that in the guidance when considering the implementation of the relevant sanctions in the Bailiwick.

The EU’s guidance is available here: http://europa.eu/newsroom/files/pdf/c_2014_9950_en.pdf
