Banking deputy takes Insurance post at Commission

8th March 2011

THE Deputy Director of Banking at the Guernsey Financial Services Commission will succeed Diane Colton as Director of Insurance. Jeremy Quick will take up the post with immediate effect. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Operational Risk, and has published several articles on the subject.

He started his career at the Bank of England where he worked on developing world economics and banking supervision. After nine years, he was seconded to Washington as personal assistant to the managing director of the International Monetary Fund. On returning to the UK he joined the newly-formed Financial Services Authority and became its representative on several international committees. Prior to joining the Commission in 2007, Dr Quick worked for Lloyds TSB Group in group risk, interfacing with the Group’s businesses, including general and life insurance.

The Director General of the GFSC, Nik van Leuven, said: “This position was advertised externally in line with Commission policy and a number of candidates both external and internal were considered. Jeremy has worked at the Commission for some years and so has a knowledge and understanding of the Guernsey financial services industry, and I am sure he will bring to the Insurance Division the same energy, experience and knowledge that has benefited the Banking Division. I wish him well in his new role.”
