Sanctions Notice - Libya

Council Regulation (EU) No 2016/44, as implemented by the Libya (Restrictive Measures) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2016, the Libya (Restrictive Measures) (Alderney) Ordinance, 2016 and the Libya (Restrictive Measures) (Sark) Ordinance, 2016, has been amended by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2017/1456. The amendments are automatically effective in the Bailiwick.

The effect of the amendments is to add one vessel to the list of vessels subject to financial restrictions related to prohibitions in respect of crude oil from Libya, and to update the details in respect of a vessel already on the list.

MEASURES WHICH SHOULD BE TAKEN

All businesses must familiarise themselves with the legislation and check whether they have any kind of relationship that may relate to prohibited activity. Businesses must report any findings to the Policy and Resources Committee immediately. Businesses must also refrain from involvement in any prohibited activity unless this activity come within a permitted derogation and has been authorised by the Policy and Resources Committee.

The information referred to above is required by the Policy and Resources Committee in the exercise of its powers under the Schedule to the Ordinances referred to above.
