Commission registers Guernsey’s first dual-designated sustainable fund
24th June 2026
The Guernsey Financial Services Commission has registered the first island fund to qualify for two parts of the Sustainable Funds Regime.
In a milestone for the island’s support for sustainable finance, the solar energy fund is the second to be designated as a Natural Capital Fund and the first to already be a Guernsey Green Fund.
The Natural Capital Fund regime provides a regulated designation for investment schemes that make a positive contribution to the natural world or significantly reduce harm to nature.
The Guernsey Green Fund designation has circa £4.5 billion of assets under management and enhances investor access to green investments by providing a trusted and transparent product that contributes to the internationally agreed objectives of mitigating environmental damage and climate change.
Together they form part of the Guernsey Sustainable Funds framework and are designed to provide Guernsey funds with a suite of sustainability designations based on international standards.
The new Natural Capital Fund invests in and manages solar energy infrastructure that generates clean electricity while also seeking to benefit nature.
This development reflects growing demand for nature‑focused investment opportunities which Guernsey is delighted to enable.
Speaking about the registration, Director General William Mason said: “We are pleased to have registered a further fund under our Natural Capital Fund regime. The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework upon which we based the Natural Capital Fund regime sets out ambitious and helpful plans for preserving and improving nature – vital for human wellbeing. This registration supports Guernsey’s commitment to enabling transparent products that help channel capital towards environmental improvement.”
