The Commission is seeking a motivated Public Affairs Officer to join the Commission Secretariat Division. This is a varied and intellectually stimulating role that will support the Director General, the Director of External Affairs and Commission Secretary, and other Directors across the Commission. The post holder will help prepare speeches, slides and meeting briefs, draft media statements, and contribute to the Commission’s wider public affairs work, helping to ensure the organisation delivers value to the Bailiwick in line with its statutory objectives.
This role requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to write clearly, accurately and with impact. The successful candidate will act as a point of contact for enquiries from licensees, regulators, auditors and other professionals, representing the Commission in a professional manner both locally and in the UK. They will work closely with colleagues across all Divisions, contributing to a culture of open communication and information-sharing, and will support the preparation of press releases, articles and engagement materials for key stakeholders. The ability to work positively, pragmatically and with a “can do” approach is essential.
A significant part of the role involves undertaking high-quality research and distilling complex information into succinct, accessible briefings for Directors. This may include digesting lengthy technical papers, identifying issues relevant to Guernsey or offshore jurisdictions, and presenting clear options and recommendations. The successful candidate will also prepare briefs for international and UK meetings, and will need to manage competing deadlines with confidence, clarity and excellent time management. Being a self‑starter who can produce high‑quality work with minimal instruction is key.
We are looking for someone with a sharp intellect, strong political awareness and natural diplomatic skills. The ideal candidate will be curious, analytical and able to react quickly as priorities shift. They will understand the Commission’s role in the Bailiwick and the opportunities and challenges that brings, working collaboratively with colleagues to support continuous improvement and effective regulatory engagement.
If you enjoy varied work with real impact, and are confident communicating at all levels, we would welcome your application.
