Gillian Browning
Gillian oversees the prudential and conduct Policy and Supervisory functions of the Commission. She takes a keen interest in supervisory technology and supports initiatives to allow the Commission to more effectively regulate firms using new data-driven technology. Gillian is playing a leading role in the Commission’s Digital Finance Initiative and values engagement with stakeholders.
Gillian joined the Commission in July 2014, initially as Director of Fiduciary and Innovations. Since then Gillian has held a number of positions including as Director of Investment, Fiduciary and Pensions. Gillian, on behalf of the Commission, is an active participant in the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), and the Group of International Finance Centre Supervisors (GIFCS).
Gillian joined the Commission from the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA; and formerly the Financial Services Authority), where she regulated a wide range of financial institutions. Gillian started her career in the Cabinet Office, where she was a Minister’s Private Secretary and Policy Officer. Gillian graduated from Exeter University where she read History and Politics.
