What is an RSS Feed?

The term 'RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed' is used to describe online content that is frequently updated by a website. Feeds are used to keep up to date with the latest news stories from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission ("GFSC").

RSS Feeds are free and extremely easy to use. Once you have subscribed to a feed you will receive automatic updates of all the latest GFSC content direct to your browser as soon as they have been added.

How do I start using Feeds?

Firstly, you will need a piece of software called a newsreader. This will check fields automatically and make sure you can view the most recent content that has been added. There are many different types of news reader, the most popular of which exist already in the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. Some are also available as a downloadable application. As there are many different types of news reader, it is important to choose one which will work with the operating system on your computer.

When viewing areas of the GFSC website you will notice the RSS feed icon next to certain pages. This lets you know that feeds are available for this particular topic.

Be mindful that web browsers such as Chrome and Safari don't support formatted viewing of RSS feeds so you will be presented with the standard XML page. Please follow the instructions underneath to subscribe to an RSS feed.
