World Investor Week

1st October 2018

The Guernsey Financial Services Commission (‘the Commission’) is once again taking part in World Investor Week (WIW), an annual global initiative organised by the International Organisation of Securities Commission’s (IOSCO). It is being held during the first week of October.

WIW seeks to promote the importance of investor education and protection.

As part of its commitment, the Commission will be organising a ‘drop-in’ session aimed at consumers who want to know more about financial services and to be able to ask questions in a relaxed and informal environment. A number of local organisations are supporting the Commission’s efforts to promote the event locally including the local branch of CISI which is providing books to school children.

Gillian Browning, Director of the Commission’s Investment, Fiduciary and Pension Division said: "We want to encourage consumers who are perhaps less involved in the world of financial services and who would like to know more about particular products or options to come along to our ‘drop-in’ session. There, people will be able to learn from experts who will be on hand to provide information on a range of subjects including bank accounts, savings, mortgages, pensions and investments."

The Commission’s drop-in session will be held on 3rd October between 10am and 3pm and will be located in the Chamber of Commerce’s new premises in the market building, Market Square, St Peter Port.
