The Guernsey Financial Services Commission has marked its fifteenth anniversary by sponsoring a seminar on international cooperation and the exchange of information. The seminar was aimed at regulators, financial intelligence officers, law enforcement officials, prosecutors and representatives of other authorities with an interest in financial services regulation and the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of economic crime.
The seminar had practical benefits in terms of sharing information and ideas, but it also served to demonstrate to key figures as far afield as Canada and the United States that Guernsey is a well regulated financial centre and a responsible member of the international community.
As a result, we are now planning to hold another seminar in 2005."
