Sanctions Notice - Russian Federation
8th August 2014Please be advised that Guernsey has adopted sanctions measures relating to the Russian Federation in view of Russia’s actions in destabilising the situation in Ukraine. These measures have immediate effect in the Bailiwick.
The Russian Federation (Restrictive Measures) (Guernsey) Ordinance 2014, which is in force with effect from 1 August 2014, implements Council Regulation (EU) No. 833/2014 of 31 July 2014 and certain articles of Council Decision 2014/512/CFSP of 31 July 2014.

All financial services businesses and prescribed businesses in the Bailiwick must refrain from taking on or continuing any business activity which directly or indirectly supports the activities prohibited by the EU.
In certain circumstances it may be possible to obtain authorisation to carry out activities that would otherwise be prohibited. The competent authority for these purposes is the Home Department, but any information or queries should be sent in the first instance to [email protected] with the subject line 'Russian Federation sanctions'.
