30th October 2018

Chemical Weapons (Restrictive Measures) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2018

On 15th October 2018, in response to concern about the proliferation and use of chemical weapons, the EU has published Council Regulation (EU) 2018/1542. This Regulation imposes and asset freeze and other financial restrictions on listed persons that are responsible for, provide financial, technical or material support for, or are otherwise involved in, manufacturing or using chemical weapons or engaging in preparations for the use of chemical weapons, as well as those who assist or encourage such activities. To date nobody has been listed by the EU under this regime.

In order to reflect the changes at EU level, the Chemical Weapons (Restrictive Measures) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2018 has been enacted to give effect to the EU Regulation.
