In line with the series of seminars organised by the Insurance Division since the beginning of 2007, a seminar for Insurance Intermediaries took place on 13 May 2008. The seminar provided an opportunity for the Insurance Division to update the sector on corporate governance requirements arising under the Insurance Managers and Insurance Intermediaries (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2002 as amended and associated codes, rules and regulations.
The seminar also provided the opportunity to remind the insurance intermediary sector of their legal obligations arising under The Criminal Justice (Proceeds of Crime) (Financial Services Businesses) (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Regulations, 2007 and associated Handbook for Financial Services Businesses on Countering Financial Crime and Terrorist Financing.
As licensees are aware, significant amendments to AML legislation were enacted on 15 December 2007, full details of which are available under the Countering Financial Crime section of this web site.
