Guernsey’s financial services regulator is planning to hold an event for those members of the public who are considering putting themselves forward as candidates for the office of States Deputy at April’s General Election.
It will take place on Friday 11th March from 8:30am at the Commission’s office and is expected to last about an hour and a half.
Speaking about the event, Director General William Mason said: “We are offering this to any people who are thinking about becoming a States Deputy who may wish to enhance their understanding of Guernsey’s finance sector, its size and complexity and how it is regulated. It is, after all, the most important part of our economy and as such it is a key feature of government policies.”
Those attending will be provided with short presentations from the Commission’s Director-General and senior staff which will touch upon the Commission’s approach to risk-based supervision, international regulatory policy and its relevance to the Bailiwick as well as the Commission’s approach to supervision, enforcement, consumer protection and innovation. There will also be an opportunity for questions.
Anyone wishing to attend is asked to contact Cindy Bernardotto at the Commission’s offices (tel. 712706 or [email protected]) by Friday 4th March.
