Crown Advocate Philip Nicol-Gent has been appointed as director of Fiduciary Services at the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. He joins the Commission after 11 years with Guernsey’s Law Officers, most recently as head of the civil litigation team, and he takes over from the acting director, Neville Johnson.
Nik van Leuven, Director General of the Commission, said: ‘Philip has extensive relevant experience, having worked for the Law Officers and before that in private practice at the English Bar. Philip, besides representing and advising the States has previously advised the Commission on a number of significant matters, and we are confident that he will be a valuable addition to the team.’Mr Nicol-Gent said ‘In joining the Commission at this time I am really looking forward to the challenges my new role presents; in particular working closely with my new colleagues to drive progress towards smarter supervision for the Bailiwick.
‘Above all, working at the Commission provides an opportunity to continue to serve and represent Guernsey.’As director, Mr Nicol-Gent will be responsible for managing relations with trust companies, overseeing licensing within the fiduciary sector and maintaining Guernsey’s high international reputation for fiduciary regulation.
