Stephen Trevor, the Guernsey Financial Services Commission’s Director of Fiduciary Services, will be leaving for a senior position in the finance sector.  Mr Trevor joined the Commission in 1999 and was appointed Director in 2004.  He has played a key role in the regulation of fiduciaries since its inception.

GFSC Director General Nik van Leuven said “I have known Stephen since he joined the Commission when we worked together on the Company Law Review Committee.  I was soon struck by his sound common sense, and have come to appreciate his extensive knowledge and skill, besides a tremendous capacity for hard work.  His dedication has been exemplary.  We wish him well in his new post”.

Mr Trevor said “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Commission.  It’s been extremely rewarding to work with such a wide variety of firms and issues, and alongside such strong colleagues”. The position will be advertised in line with GFSC policy.

Mr van Leuven said that the retirement of a Director, coinciding with the departure of two others, marked a period of change for the Commission.

“In common with any organisation, we are not immune from change. We employ around 100 people, including a strong cohort of Deputy and Assistant Directors who are crucial to the continuity of our engagement with industry and, like many institutions, our succession planning is a matter continually under review,” he said.
