The following regulated financial services businesses are licensed by the Commission under these “supervisory laws”:-
The Banking Supervision (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 1994
The Protection of Investors (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 1987
The Insurance Business (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2002
The Insurance Managers and Insurance Intermediaries (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2002
The Regulation of Fiduciaries, Administration Businesses and Company Directors, etc (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2000
and are additionally registered under regulation 16 of the Criminal Justice (Proceeds of Crime) (Financial Services Businesses) (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Regulations, 2007 with the Commission for the specified types of financial services business of
Operating a money services business (including, without limitation, a business providing money or value transmission services, currency exchange (bureau de change) and cheque cashing;
Facilitating or transmitting money or value through an informal money or value transfer system or network;
Money broking; or
Money changing
Not all financial services businesses are licensed under the above supervisory laws - such businesses carrying on, or holding themselves out as carrying on the business specified above, which are not licensed under the above laws must be registered under the Registration of Non-Regulated Financial Services Businesses (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2008.
