Minimum Insurance Qualifications for Authorised Insurance Representatives Advising on Long Term Insurance Business
It is mandatory for all Authorised Insurance Representatives who advise on long term insurance business to attain the relevant minimum insurance qualifications as follows:
- The Chartered Insurance Institute - Certificate in Financial Planning (or an acceptable equivalent)
- The Guernsey Insurance Certificate

Certificate in Captive Insurance Management
Glasgow Caledonian University offers a certificate course in Captive Insurance Management in conjunction with the GTA University Centre and the Guernsey International Insurance Association (GIIA). The course is aimed at anyone with an interest in captive insurance- auditors, advocates, managers, regulators, risk managers, insurers, directors of owning companies etc. Successful completion of the course will result in a certificate being awarded.
